About Us

Torbay Chamber is the umbrella organisation for the Branch Chambers of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham and has been structured to allow each town to look after its own business interests whilst at the same time having an input into matters at Local, Regional and National levels.  Businesses from outside this area are permitted to join if they have a legitimate business interest within the Bay and the Chamber has members with bases in Plymouth, Newton Abbot, Ashburton and Totnes which fulfil this criteria.

The aims and objectives of the Chamber are to promote, advance and protect the general, commercial and professional interests of its members and to discuss and promote measures calculated to benefit the mercantile and trading interests of our region.

The Chamber is a non-profit making organisation and exists to benefit its members by negotiation with other interested bodies in all matters that have or may have an effect on the trading prospects of our members.  We also do as much as possible to ensure that our members are aware of all policies under discussion by Local and Central Government.

The Chamber is recognised by both Local and National Government as being the representative of Trade and Commerce and is therefore consulted and its opinion sought whenever topics that might affect its members are being discussed - for example traffic and transportation, tourism, policing, regional development etc.

Membership taken out now will cover a 12 month period from the date of joining.  General or Open Meetings of the Chamber take place once or twice a year and are supplemented by Newsletters.  Members are entitled to distribute information about their business to other members by this means free of charge.  At Branch level, meetings are more frequent and are usually preceded and followed by an opportunity for new and potential members to network with existing Chamber members informally.  A table to disseminate promotional literature between members is also usually available.  Each Branch has an Executive Committee and meets as and when that committee decides it is necessary.
